IBCD exists to equip God's church to meet counseling-related needs. We do this primarily through our training programs which are designed to prepare pastors and others to counsel within the framework and under the authority of the local church or church-related organizations, like Christian schools, mission agencies, crisis counseling ministries, etc.
IBCD programs are skill-enhancing and are not designed to meet state certification requirements for psychologists, marriage and family therapists, guidance counselors or other licensing or certifying groups. We believe the necessary revolution in counseling must occur at the grassroots level of the church, not through the state. However, course work and experience at IBCD can be applied to the National Association of Nouthetic Counselors and other certifying bodies at their discretion.
